Chea, T. (2010). For students, shrinking state spending is increasing competition for college slots. Community College Week, 22(13), 7-7. Because of cuts in college budget, many students are having increased competition in getting into a state college. This is happening because of the economic recession. Many students are looking for cheaper tuition and this is causing admissions at state colleges to reject more applicants. Also in the article it is showing that they might take students who have more money than others by looking at their finances.

They are trying to find ways of losing debt by starting online courses that will decrease the amount of professors they need. Many applicants who were accepted will probably reject the college because this college was used mostly for financial aid and now they can’t afford to give many people aid.

I changed my decision on my topic for my essay. I want go back to the idea of privatization at universities. Is it a good idea to let businesses give money to schools? Will this help out the budget in a good way or will businesses have to much control of what goes on at the school?
